Breitling Watches
Known as the air force’s timepiece, Léon Breitling first started the esteemed watch company in 1884 in St. Imier at the young age of 24. This idyllic place is one of five well-known watchmaking towns in Bern, Switzerland, along with Geneva, Vaud, Neuchâtel, and Solothurn. From its inception, the watchmaker decided to focus on chronographs as his craft, which are wristwatches that are both stopwatches and display watches. These precise timepieces are often used in sports or the military for their accurate incremental time-keeping.
From the company’s inception, it had a significant interest in collaborating with the air force industry. The Breitling Navitmeter was explicitly designed with a logarithmic scale for use on planes. Other outstanding pieces from the watch house are the Breitling Superocean, which was designed for diving with extreme durability and reserve power, and the Breitling Avenger, a classic pilot’s watch with hands coated in Super-LumiNova®.
The company has been at the height of innovation in the industry for over a century. Léon Breitling changed the watchmaking world in 1915 when he introduced the independent pushpin. Breitling continues in its creator’s footsteps of excellence and innovation to the present day.
