IWC Schaffhausen’s most iconic watch was created in the 1930s for Portuguese businessmen Rodrigues and Antonio Teixeira to meet the demand for a men’s watch that could match the precision of a marine chronograph. Since then, it has undergone several iterations resulting in one of the most sophisticated timepieces on the luxury watch market.
The IWC Portugieser ChronographIW371605 features the model’s original iconic thin stainless steel case and bezel, giving the illusion of a larger dial for better readability. The silver-plated dial is equipped with blue hands in the distinctive feuille styleand blue Arabic numerals, with the 12 and 6 boasting the characteristic cut-off due to the positioning of the subdials. At the 6-o'clock position, the small seconds dial allows the wearer to measure elapsed time, while the 12-o’clock subdial features a chronograph with a minute counter.
The IWC IW371605 Portugieser Chronograph’s case features anti-reflective sapphire crystals on both sides, so you can view the engineering marvel that is the IWC automatic chronograph movement. Manufactured in-house by IWC, the caliber 69355 self-winding automatic chronograph movement is made from 212 components and uses 27 jewels for a smoothly rotating wheel train to provide reliable timekeeping. The movement boasts a 46-hour power reserve and the case is water-resistant up to 100 feet.
The IWC IW371605 Portugieser Chronograph comes with a 20mm blue alligator leather strap. The strap is secured with a stamped stainless steel pin buckle, displaying the refined elegance of a dress watch while offering the superb functionality of a classic tool watch.
